About Linda Holt
Energy, form and vibrant color are inherent in the paintings of Linda Holt. She is fascinated with the mysteries of color and says, "Within each of us lives our own unique rhythm, song, and images..and then there is color. Color in its purest form is color at its most intriguing for me. Bold and bright, color energizes everything around us." She credits her mother's garden with establishing her palette as a young child and feels that working with art is playful.
Mesmerized by the work of Henri Matisse she continues to be influenced by his sense of composition and pattern. Matisse felt that "composition is the art of arranging in the decorative manner the various elements at the painter's disposal for the expression of his feelings." His choice of color was based more on selective observation and his feeling about the object or composition than on naturalistic or exact color.
Linda's work includes Still Lifes, Florals, Figuratives, Abstracts, Contemporary Interiors, and Musical Composites inspired by her training in classical music. Her work is known nationally and internationally and has been published by by well-known publishing houses Gango Editions and Gleedsville Art Publishers.
It has been said that "the effect of Linda's work is uplifting, staccato, bright and fundamentally cheerful. It feels hopeful, as if saying, here my message, there is hope for this battered world."
